Make a splash

Thursday, February 25, 2016

Sunday was our first church service at our new church. We already felt a part of the community and were already involved in the life of the church, but it was really special to actually go to the services, worship together, meet other people, and hear from God's Word.

Being in ministry, especially starting somewhere new, causes you to question lots of things about why they happen and what their purpose is. Why do we meet together on Sunday? Is Sunday the end goal or the starting point?

I want to share with you a sermon snippet from Sunday. In the morning, a gentleman named Ken Harris shared from James 2 about Faith and Deeds. He said the passage didn't need much explaining but he shared one powerful analogy.

If you fill a glass up drip by drip, if won't have much impact, but if you fill a glass up with a hose on full steam, water will go everywhere, you will make a splash.

The people around us need to get wet.

We need to let others be splashed by God's love overflowing in our lives.

How do we do this?

We need Sunday to be the start and end of our week. We need to be in the church and in the world.

Our faith must be put into action.

What does that look like? Unwavering obedience. Listening and doing.
